The EIA doesn’t cross the BORDER

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is tool to ensure that development projects such as coal mining and power plant has minimal impacts on the environment and community’s health. The problems of EIA in the Mekong region include the inadequacy of environmental and social impacts information including crossborder impacts. The message here is that the project stakeholders have primary responsibility to ensure that crossborder impacts are considered and human rights due diligence respected according to the principle of accountable investments.
